Our History

Desktop Imaging Ltd was established in 1997 as a sister company to New Zealand Micrographic Services – a specialist Preservation Microfilm Company founded in 1990. Desktop Imaging is a privately owned by New Zealanders and is one of the largest, arguably New Zealand’s best imaging (scanning) bureau specialising in providing imaging solutions. Solutions involve using scanning for the conversion of paper or microform-based records to digital format, and forms recognition to lift data and automate business processes such as accounts payable.

We operate out of four sites around New Zealand - our Head Office in Tawa, Wellington is our largest processing centre with 12 production level rotary scanners and four wide-format plan scanners. We also operate onsite at the New Zealand Companies Office (Auckland CBD), the Intellectual Property Office of NZ (Wellington CBD) and the Christchurch City Council.

Desktop Imaging currently employs 42 staff including a management team of 5.

Braden joined the company in 1999 as the Imaging Manager. His background in IT infrastructure, Programming and Management made him the ideal person to head our newly evolving document imaging business.

Since 2001 Braden has assumed the role of General Manager and in 2004 became a third shareholder in the company.  Braden's background includes stints at the ASB and Wang (now Gen-i) as well as overseas roles in the United States and United Kingdom.

Braden and his Wife Vicki have three children, Julia, Jack and Logan and live in palatial splendour in Riverstone Terraces, Upper Hutt.

With a combined 20 years experience in Account Management and Sales Management roles across the Transport, Postal and Information Management Service industries, Stephen is responsible for developing and managing business opportunities with both new and existing customers. Before joining Desktop Imaging in 2008 Stephen enjoyed an extremely successful career over seven years with Recall New Zealand ending up as the National Sales Manager.  Stephen joined Desktop Imaging to lead all sales and marketing activities and has since become a fourth shareholder in the company from July 2009. Stephen and his wife Lisa have two teenage sons, Matthew & Thomas and have resided in Wellington for the last 12 years, having both migrated north from the peace and tranquillity of Dunedin.

Chris has worked in the IT and Consulting sector for the past 12 years, having a background in Software development, Managed Services and IT Operational management.  Chris joined Desktop Imaging in 2008 as the IT and Operations manager and is responsible for the day to day delivery of the core services of the company.

Andy is the Managing Director of Desktop Imaging and NZMS.  Andy co-founded Desktop Imaging in 1997; and the Heritage Materials Imaging Facility in 2003. Armed with a degree in Computer Science, Andy has a wealth of experience with planetary and rotary cameras as well as hybrid/microform scanners. Andy was elected to the inaugural National Digital Forum Board in 2006, the ARANZ Council in 2005, Archives NZ Digitisation Standard Advisory Group in 2006 and the Australia/New Zealand Joint Standards Committee (MS/4) for Information and Image Management in 1996. In the past 3 years he has been proactive in the dissemination of information in this area and is a vocal advocate of collaboration and the NDF’s Register of Digital Initiatives.  Andy is married to Audrey and they have two children - Michael and Kate. They live in Wellington, close to the family business in Tawa.

Audrey is a founding Director and Human Resources Manager for NZMS and Desktop Imaging. Prior to that she enjoyed a successful sales career in Australia and New Zealand. Audrey actively ran the production and image capture aspects of NZMS before having Michael and Kate. Audrey plays an active part in the administration, finance and HR aspects of both companies.

Peter has a strong commercial background in the service sector. He started his own business at the age of 21 and, by 30, he was owner and manager of two successful businesses. This has given him an extensive grounding in customer service and meeting client expectations. Peter has been working for DI for four and a half years where his customer focus and analytical abilities are given free reign. Peter is involved in implemeting a company-wide best practices system. He also ensures all work meets DI’s strict quality standards.

Desktop Imaging has a large team of trained imaging technicians, who are process-orientated, careful workers keen on getting the best results.

We provide ongoing training to ensure all our staff have the skills to deliver great results every time because we know that top-quality results are crucial to you, the customer.

While we operate a suite of best breed equipment, it’s the staff using the technology who deliver brilliant results.

Our four directors are active in the business, working with clients and providing leadership to staff.
